Writing Nz Bird of the year

Which bird did you vote for, for the new zealand bird of the year?
Well i’m writing to tell you what bird i think should win. The Banded Dotterel (Pohowera) i think that this bird should win because it is very critically endangered and close to extinction.
It is a small bird that lives along new zealand's coastlines, estuaries and riverbeds. They were actually founded in new south wales but now is commonly seen on seashores across the south island. The numbers of these birds are going down more and more day by day and we need to save them.
Do you want to know how to recognise them well they are small birds with long legs for their size thin but lean. Different shades of brown lines across their whit belly they are of various widths and shades.
Now here a few fun facts about them.
  • They have a few other names such as: Double-banded plover and tūturiwhatu.
  • Banded dotterels breed throughout New Zealand on sandy coasts, shingle and braided riverbeds, or sometimes farmland.
  • Birds that breed on the coasts normally don’t migrate significant distances once nesting is complete but these amazing birds do.
  • There scientific name is Charadrius bicinctus

These are just a few cool facts about them so that brings me to a conclusion of why I would vote for them.
