Pahurehure Inlet LCS Project

Here is our Pahurehure inlet project. We have been learning about inlets for our inquiry this term. I enjoyed going on the trip and learning the differences between inlets and estuary's. We added labels for each of our clay birds. I learnt lots more information this term so now when I walk around the inlet now I can identify more species of living things. I also understand more about the tide cycles.

I'm going to camp next week! | Descriptive writing week 4 term 4

Excitement crowds the room. Everyone is chattering like monkeys, in awe and disbelief that camp is in less than one week! Action-packed days, full of thrilling activities await. The long anticipation lingers. Smiles spread over faces like butter on toast, each time the word is said.

Bags are beginning to pile up with supplies, cozy sleeping bags and creamy sunblock are a few essentials.

Groups are working as one in strengthening team building activities. Encouraging cheering echoes in waves as teams prepare for next weeks adventure.

Dawn Raid Writing Week 8 Term 3

If my family was dawn raided

BANG! My heart nearly lept out of my chest. Jumping out of bed, I quickly crept to my mums room. Where cries of fear let out. She pulled me into her arms holding my siblings and I close. The banging continued as we all grew more and more afraid. Neave and Axton were bursting in tears of fear. (Although the cries were muffled, from being held so tight).
CRASH! Could it be a Hurricane or an Earthquake?
Mens voices echoed through the house. A deep growl rumbled, "Something sounds hungry." I whispered. My mum spoke in a hushed voice, "Everything is going to be ok, stay behind me." We cautiously  walked in a huddle to the front door. Only to find hinges, nails and wood plastered across the floor.
Two police officers bursted into the room holding death threatening battens as well as pulling  hard on an aggressive looking greyhound. That was drooling all over the carpet with clenched teeth, while staring us down. Ripping my mums phone out of her hand one policeman yelled, "Show me your passports!!" Silence.. "SHOW ME YOUR PASSPORTS!!" He screams once more but louder this time. My mum refuses to answer, whilst the other policeman began searching, flipping the house upside down. The screaming continued, but he still got no answers.
Suddenly my brother rushes out of the kitchen, wiping his tears. Armed with forks. "I'll poke you in the eyes if you don't leave us alone!"
"Axton leave it to me!" my mum demands. But before we could move, my sister follows spatulas in hand ready to attack! "GO BACK IN TO THE KITCHEN!" My mum demands, turning back to face the angry, interrogating officer.
A high pitched scream drifts from the kitchen. Running in, my eyes fall upon a horrid site. My brother and sister are laying on the floor, lifeless, giant bite marks are leaking with blood on their faces. The vicious dog was pinning them down, like he'd won a wrestling match. My mum immediately ripped the dog off them and begun wiping there faces. Then shouting at the policeman, who was standing over them in disgust.
The sounds of banging and disorder echoed through the walls. I ran at the second police officer in rage. Attempting to punch him straight in the throat. But before I knew it I was thrown into the paddy wagon, carelessly. I fought back tears of fear as well as pain. Giant bruises covered my body. Blood poured out of huge gashes on my face and arms. The moon was still lingering as I sat tired and cold. A few painful minutes went by, and then my whole family were sitting in misery with me.
